Hi!

First let me thank you all for the work you are all doing...Im only sorry that I cant help (yet)!

Maybe Im hijacking this thread but I need some help here, I already installed this betta version..but I cant seem to test it the way it should be because in a new install we forget always something and its not the same as testing in already existing forum with more than 4000 users and more than 30 forums and subforuns, I have a complet copy of my portal in my home server what its need to done to UPGRADE my 1.0.4 version to this one? or is it impossible to do so?

Maybe the answer is in this thread but what I was able to understand (I couldnt understand ) the upgrade is not easy to do..I dont want to take precious time from all of you that are working in this great component but I want to help to...and I cant!

Can someone point me to the right direction how can I upgrade my version??

Thanks all

In fact, upgrading now is easier

Fxstein has prepared a converter to do the update in the database

Hi I found a critical FB problem.

Code:

`id` int(11) NOT NULL auto_increment,
  `parent` int(11) default '0',

Code:

(81, 81, 'Alegeri locale 2008', 0, 0, 0, 1, NULL, 0, 0, 0, 0, 1, 0, 1, 0, '0000-00-00 00:00:00', 0, 0, 'Despre alegerile locale 2008: primari, consilieri, candidaţi la primărie.', 'Alegeri locale 2008', '', 188, 7, 25, 1214226563),

FB allows creation of category in category the result in frontend is NOTHING.
This problem apears when creating categories and when changing them in Forum Administration.

The person ho has this problem can enter the phpmyadmin -> [site database name] and find the table jos_fb_ categories and change the parent.(first BACKUP the database)

I don`t konw if it`s sufficient time to fix this in FB 1.0.5 but I hope that in FB 2.0 this problem will be fixed.

I looked in the jos_fb_ categories table and saw that there are categories that I DELETED in the past, and that are not displaied in the Forum Administration nor in Frontend

I've recently just installed the latest 1.0.5.

I'm still noticing a bug. Perhaps it's a bug with CB and not with FB?

I've noticed that no matter how I have the thread viewing options set in my profile, posts are always showing up in newest order.

Has anyone else had this issue? I'm trying to determine if it's a FB or a CB issue.

I'm guessing it's already been posted, but it appears that the BadWord issue has not been fixed (link and link). Perhaps there's an easier way to allow for badword filtering than relying on another component?

Also, it appears as if the following icons have been left out of the build:

template/default/images/english/icons/profile.gif

template/default/images/english/icons/tlatest.gif

Yes I saw that. In fact these files are NOT missing. If you unzip the com file you will see they are there AND they are in the fireboard.xml that tells Joomla to install them. You can also open them in a local unzipped dir and they are just fine. What baffles me is once Joomla installs the component, these files (and a few others) get corrupted. They are no longer valid gif files. I have been searching all day today and could not find root cause. It just does not make sense.

Anybody out there that has a clue what's going on here?

BTW I am doing my testing on Mac OSX with MAMP as my test server. What environment did you see the problem?

I'm using a host for this board. I believe they are on Apache. Good to know it's not just an improper install on my part!

The converter is ready. The next build will use the database based config so the upgrade will be fully automatic. I will post a little write up with the next build so it is clear what needs to be done. It should take you less than 1 min to upgrade from the prior version. Give me a day or two to fix the remaining issues with the database based config.

Thx!

One other think in latest 1.0.5 default EX:

The avatar in the category-view is not shown (in combination with cb). The fix is here.

Could you insert that in the latest code, please.

Thanks.

Best wishes,

Roland

The avatar is not shown even whithout CB

This has been fixed in the latest SVN and will be part of the next build.
Thx!

Re:Latest SVN - getting ready for 1.0.5 alpha 4 Months, 1 Week ago
I have posted the next nightly build files for download:
joomlacode.org/gf/project/fireboard/frs/

While not all bugs have been fixed, I hope this will be the last nightly build before the first release candidate.
It now contains the database level configuration, an enhanced install and upgrade class and more robust error handling in wide parts of FireBoard.

If you want to upgrade from a prior version of FireBoard (for testing right now) please follow the instructions here:
www.bestofjoomla.com/component/option,co...id,6/id,53586/#53567

Once you have run the converter and AFTER you made sufficient backups, just uninstall the old FireBoard version and install the new nightly build.

Reminder - THE NIGHTLY BUILD IS NOT FOR PRODUCTION

During the upgrade some of the upgrade SQLs will be marked as failed. That is normal. As there are several db schema versions and countless manually modified versions around, the upgrade tries to perform all the schema upgrades since 1.0.0. Those that have been performed earlier will fail. Again that's ok and normal.

Let me know how this is working for you.

Thx!

Good night!
