How do I transfer a fireboard database ? 10 Months, 1 Week ago
Hi there

I had a website (joomla 1.0.x) for about a year now, and thanks to fireboard, had a lot of posts and messages .

But now i have to change to another version of joomla (1.5), and I really do not want to loose all the posts and messages.

Is there an easy way to transfer all the posts, or do I have to copy every line on mysql database and the past them on my new website ?

Thank you for you answer guys

Hi,

best to start with is the site migration guide from Joomla!.org at docs.joomla.org/Migrating_from_1.0.x_to_1.5_Stable
This guide includes the database migration.

Another way would be to export the old fb tables from your sql database and then import them into the new sql database. There you have to watch out for several issues:

1. Make sure that you do not have conflicts with the sql versions
2. The tables of the old database of joomla 1.0... have usually a different database prefix than the new joomla 1.5...(jos_).

As I am not an expert on sql databases, I recommend going with the migration guide, back-up old sql database and new, migrated database.

I am going through this exact same thing atm.
I am pretty much finished installing the new J1.5 site and I was going to proceed by upgrading my current FB 1.03 to 1.05 then dump the tables and import unless someone has a better solution.

I reciently did this and if you go down the export the old fb tables method then you need to make sure the FB version in the new 1.5 is the same as in the old Joomla 1.0. I tried importing a sql dump from FB 1.04 into a fresh 1.05 install and got a ton of errors and issues.

Install the same version in your new Joomla, import and then upgrade after ... I wont gaurantee it, but it worked for me.

Had no problem exporting FB 1.0.5 fb tables and importing into Joomla 1.5.6. Everything went smoothly with no errors, no lost data.
