Hi osgeld,
I don't know why you said these words . I lost the converter during moving our site to new host , that's correct . I had to re-do it, that's correct . I increased the price for the converter because I think the price is fine . $20 is a very low money to convert your from from smf to fireboard .

it is fair, but thats beyond the fact it was 15$ before your incompetence set in and you had to write it twice, i dont think its fair to jack up the price because you clowns did not back up a single zip file

for those who do not know you CAN convert SMF to FIREBOARD for free, altho its abit more complicated

heres how
------
you should already have a working installed populated copy of smf (altho i do not recommend you work directly on your public site)

install phpbb2 found here

use this smf to phpbb converter

then use this phpbb to fb converter on a clean, fully operational install of joomla and fireboard

in the process you will loose user passwords, avatars and sig's

passwords can be reset by use of the "lost password" function
-----

since its been 2+ months since i did it waiting for these clowns to get their act together i did a refresher, and for me it took less than 30 min

and thats...

downloading and installing mybb and importing the original database to my localhost
downloading and installing smf on my localhost
downloading and installing phpbb on my localhost
downloading and installing joomla and fireboard to my localhost
on a 768k internet connection

converting mybb -> smf -> phpbb -> fireboard on a 866mhz 1gb localhost

needless to say 30 min should be the worst case

Re:SMF to FireBoard 9 Months, 1 Week ago
Hi, I have smf forum bridged with joomla 1.0.13 and I'm trying to migrate it to fireboard on Joomla 1.5. I used script found on this long thread that worked for me but only half-way. It imported the users (or at least it says so, because I already had imported them with migration component for joomla 1.0 to 1.5) and successfully migrated the board and forum names. However when it got to migrate the messages in board I get this:

Code:

Populating 62 messages into FireBoard.
Category: ??????? does not exist in FireBoard!!!

My database and tables are using utf-8 encoding and the messages are in Cyrillic and that's where I think the problem is.

I also tried the solution from the previous post (smf to phpbb2 to jb) and it migrated the messages but all Cyrillic characters became question marks.

Could someone help me with this? I guess it's a problem with the way the script gets and stores information from the tables but I'm not a programmer myself

I'm including the script that I used to do the conversion.

Re:SMF to FireBoard 9 Months, 1 Week ago
When I use the module smf2fb i get following error for every user i tries to import

You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'larsjepsen'', 0 )' at line 1 SQL=INSERT INTO jos_core_acl_aro (aro_id,section_value,value,order_value,name,hidden) VALUES ( 77, 'users', 77, 0, ''larsjepsen'', 0 )

Afterwards my usere is not listed in joomla user list, and synchronzing them trough fireboard dont affect this

What can i do?

joomservices has a nasty habit of telling you something will be done in a surprisingly short amount of time (for this feild anyway) then vanishing

id try their website, but the only way ive ever gotten them to actually bother replying is to post something nasty (but true)
