As I just posted on tsmf.net:

As many of you know, after almost 5 years of existence joomlaboard development has slowed down recently due to various business and personal issues of the people involved. In spite of that we have done our best to keep the project running. At times it was very difficult; making it less fun that it was supposed to be. One of the attempts to improve it for everyone was a recent invitation for more developers to join in, as we desperately needed them.

The response was not exactly overwhelming, but yesterday we were pleasantly surprised that a group of people has been improving JoomlaBoard in the background, releasing the result of their work as Fireboard. The improvements are everything we wished for and more, the community response is great, and the whole project is very well organized.

As we don't believe it makes sense to duplicate efforts, together we decided to merge the JoomlaBoard project with what will become its successor - Fireboard, and create the best integrated forum solution for Joomla.
Users should have no fears as all the JoomlaBoard options and features you are familiar with are there, plus much more. Migration from JoomlaBoard to FireBoard is quick and easy. So without further ado, we invite you all to join us in the FireBoard community - we will be waiting you there to help you out as we did in the past!

I'm THE forum guy as you may know, and am always evaluating and testing options for Joomla as well as my client. SMF is great and wonderfully resource friendly, but in 80% of case, an overkill for most users of Joomla.. from what I can see so far, Fireboard is going to fit in nicely.

Right. SMF is very nice, indeed, but still too much overkill for people, including the clients. You can't finish a project that SMF (or V is inside you know what I mean.

Two Minds Are Better Than One! and what about more than three hundred ? (im feeling so spartan). You just need to keep an eye on whats community is writing about and try to bring to life those crazy ideas we users have , with the help of good programmers of course. More is better when quantity meets quality.

spartan indeed. Congrats to both Joomlaboard and FireBoard developer for such a splendid decision. I am sure most Joomlaboard users will be migrating to FireBoard in a months time.

It is more than obvious, that there is no need to double efforts in different places.
It is much better, to have EXCELLENT working solution, rather then 2 working, but not so good.

Can't believe that quick response within less than 48 hours !!


It will be really great to merge between the 2 forums
