I've got to go out for a few hours. Have just checked the forum and it is still running very slow

well that worked, executed successfully. Typical me, I didn't realize you were altering the code that you put on the forum first

I think we may be getting somewhere. I wouldn't say the forum is flying, but I think there is definitely an improvement on what it has been like. I want to say a very big thank you for helping, you have relieved a lot of stress. What exactly did you do, just for future reference?

Actually, for unknown reason, you don't have most of the indexes (which helps db to run queries faster). So i compared your indexes with indexes in my version and drop wrong ones and add new ones. This should help with the topic, which helpdesk gives you.
Choosing FastCGI will help also (if not possible running php over module).
If your memory consummation and speed is although slow, you can ask helpdesk once more, if they find something else.

I think we are they around in circles Jerry. At the moment, the site is so slow, I could literally cook a roast dinner waiting for it to load. I have been checking all my other websites hosted with DreamHost and every single one of them is slowly compared to any other website on the Internet. Now have a look at this website, this is hosted with another company. It is Joomla with a rocket theme template. See how fast loads, it's got to be a problem with DreamHost, not my websites.

Anyway, I have bought Web hosting with go daddy today

You should move all your domains away from that hoster.
