We have some impatient people here?
Yes, that would be the source for transfer to FB too. But keep in mind to change the DB fields (there is one extra in categories I guess)

Or as your friend suggested SMF->JB->FB

Look, everyone gets to take a lunch, right?

Here are the files compressed in a RAR file, attached to this post. Unrar, make changes to the mysql file as appropriate. Upload the files to a folder like public_html/convert and point your browser to mydomain.com/convert/index.php

Use at your own risk. Myself, BestofJoomla, nor any personnel of BestofJoomla are responsible for use of this method. I can only say that it did work for me.

Hope this helps!

so then if the structur of the fireboard is the same as JB then all we have to do is change the table names and convert from smf to fb, i did this and i don't have any time to test it but if someone does go right ahead but im not responsible for any losing of data.

Unsure of if this will work correctly and keep the data integrity stable. I know, and have tested going from SMF to JB and then from JB to FB.

This works perfectly, but it seem to has problems with german special characters in signatures.
I have emptied the signature field in the database (table smf_members) to go around this problem...

i have tested it to, it seems like it's working like a charm.

althoug the converter doesnt take child boards posts with them, so i put them like normal forums and it worked from SMF to FB

Yes, there are some shortcomings like this but overall, it was a sound working solution for moving away from SMF to JB and then when converting to FB, I had no trouble. Overall, works well. Glad it worked for you too!

It is unfortunate that all the child boards and permissions will not make the transfer from SMF to JB. Will this also be the case for the forum attachments?

Also, will the SMF to Fireboard convertor have these options available?

Hi,

As a novice, I am terrified of screwing up my SMF forum as it is busy

I would love to use FB as it looks wonderful and is fully integrated into Joomla.

Any chance of ann idiot's guide to doing this conversion?
