Uhm, it isn't exactly a wysiwyg editor if I can see the quote tag. It should just pop the quite box around what you quote. Shouldn't it?
So Since other things in there are obviously showing up as formatted, It's not exactly a wysiwyg bbcode editor. Instead it's a wysiwyg html editor that has some bbcode functionality. This is not what I was looking for at all, as there are security issues with this sort of editor. One of the points of BBcode is that it minimizes the types of html tags you can use to a safe set of tags. What I was looking for is a wysiwyg editor that formatted BBCode on the back end, NOT HTML. If this thing is outputting bbcode then ignore all I've just said, but if it is. Then why does the quote tag show up that way?
At any rate, hoteditor is all microsoftish, which means it already has a strike against it. And any admin using it will constantly catch heck from their linux users. Just an observation.
See what I mean?

I don't think we are on the same track. please take time and read their site.
it outputs bbcode and both html. i use bbcode one. also fb is securing any content that is sent to it, so nothing to worry.
regarding the quote tag: Always easy to discuss, but i'm a practical guy. what do we have else as bbcode editor that works? bring it in and I will use that one

If this can output either one, html or bbcode, then perfect. We just have to tweak it to fit our needs.
As to the quote tag, it would be cool if someone could highlight a section from a previous post in the post history and hit quote, and a quote box would pop up with that text in it. Or insert an empty quote box and paste text into it, or both.

That's all we have at the moment. In next releases me may introduce more bbcodes to handle this editor better.

That's great thanks.
Tell you why; we do a lot of regular english sentences where bullets etc are very useful. But we also use tables a lot. Then we have to use say Word, upload it as an attachment and re-upload it with the changes and so on. Would be much nicer to get all our comms into one thread. So one solution for now is to use WordPress; a fella by the name of Dean created a plugin for fckEditor (super editor) and it works very nicely. Problem is that the only way to get WordPress into Joomla is via a wrapper and that is not elegant. We can link to a standalone WorPress app which is not ideal because we'd like the whole solution inside Joomla.

Far better than BBcode, but still I prefer users to use their Joomla defined WYSIWYG. JCE and stuff. God damn security issue, ha!

I can only agree, why let the user choose any HTML-editor and then not let them use it where they write most. (I our case it is the Forum and a Blog that they use most)
