I'de like to help translating to Danish.
I've been working with joomla for quite a while now, so I know my way around it.

Folks,

I really need some direction here. I have implemented fb 1.01 on my site (I am ok with Beta, I can comb through code and solve critical problems on my own). However, I really don't want to waste time fixing what you are already working on. Is the development focus biased toward 1.02? or is 1.01 still considered a viable release? I would hate to spend a lot of time fixing bugs in 1.01 if 1.02 has the fixes and is the main release moving forward.

I posted asking what I could chase down, but got no reply. Can someone please enlighten me with a few comments so I can spend some productive time assisting the efforts? Not looking to join the team, just need to fix things for myself and believe in contributing those things back....

Board is on this site:

Hi gram,

I posted an almost equal question, too, but got no answer either. I'm still at the beginning of learning PHP and working with an appropriate IDE, though I'm a programmer for many years now, using Borland/CodeGear products and I know SQL very well.

I would appreciate if there where any kind of tutorial on how to setup a development environment for Fireboard (and Joomla as well), using one of the popular IDEs available, like PDT/PHP-Eclipse.

I would also appreciate if there where one or more tutorials to start with plugin development.

This would make any contributions and perhaps bug fixing lots more easier and even faster, I guess.

Well,

I have two folders: one full joomla installation with latest build and second is SVN. I modify the local joomla code and test and if it works I synchronize it to SVN folder and commit. I use PHPed as editor and easyphp for server.

Plugin developement is basicly an include code. so nothing special. you write your php, put intruder tag on top and include the code with include() in fireboard files.

I fully understand and appreciate what you guys are doing and wanted to start by saying thanks and Kudos! Even if I find I can't find time to follow through with the rest of this post, I assure you that you have a true follower here!

I've got experience on the server side of a few commercial forum packages. Since hearing about Fireboard, I've become an avid supporter of it. I believe in this project because I believe Joomla needs a stable, native forum package.

I have solid experience in beta testing comm programs from my days as part of the Mustang Software support team (WIN Server, Wildcat BBS, Qmodem, etc) back in the day, before the Internet became popular and caused them to sell their assets to Santronics. I don't know whether anyone here has heard of them. They had the #1 DOS-based BBS package for a while, in close competition with PCBoard.

These days I'm involved with a few web sites, run a simple private site for my family under Joomla and am using a licensed version of ClexusPM on it along with Community Builder. I also took the plunge and put Fireboard 1.0.1 beta on there, knowing full well there could be issues with an update to 1.0.2.

That said, when I have time, I can step in and help in these areas:

- Experienced Joomla/Joomlaboard/CB/... users, you can help us on the forums. More experienced ones, you are welcome to be our mods

I don't feel experienced enough to be an official mod, but I'll peruse and help where I can when I can.

- "Dig and find" person, beta testers **most wanted**, don't forget to write them down time to time. Hunt bugs, develope ideas and if possible chop in with little code snippets to fix the problems

This is possible. We have a low-volume site and I may be able to convince my relatives to help test. They like 1.0.1. I'd have to ask if they're interested then we'll take it from there. I'm not sure I have the time to set up a second site specifically for testing, but if this is manageable, and they want to go for it, I'll be happy to do what I can to help make Fireboard (and Clexus open source when you get to that, danialt) the best they can be!

Hey Bardani,

Thanks for taking time and posting here. I can't say we are the fastest dev team but with our limited time we are doing our best. Soon, we will release the integrated version of clexuspm (FireMessage) and Fireboard so it will become a complete solution (like a forum) and we do need people enthusiastic like you (and from my history ) to help us take it further.

What I can suggest you is to follow SVN development and after release of this week we will restructure the groups for a better support. Then I'll put (hopefully) and online form so people can join with a better way than 10k forum post. We will be glad to have you on team.

Just to get sure: You have got a local Joomla installation in one folder and a local Fireboard installation in anotherdirectory, correct?

If true, where do you store your store the local SVN Fireboard files? In which directories? I guess you have to put it where Joomla needs it to call it, right? This means when checking-out from SVN you put the administration directory and its files and subfolders into eg. ./joomla/adminstration and the components directory from SVN into ./joomla/components.

This means you can call Joomla and Fireboard as usual and debug the code as you like. setting a break-point somewhere in the FB files. After applying some changes in one of the FB files in eg. ./joomla/components/com_fireboard you commit it to SVN again.

Did I describe this correctly?

SVN is not joomla, it is just SVN.

So, do coding on dummy joomla directory, if it is running well, overwrite SVN (or use beyond compare and send the modifications) and then commit. Yes, so simply I code on a Joomla directory and then update my SVN.
