This seems to be a common error with a number of extensions (FireBoard included) but trying to find a resolution has sent me around in so many circles with little success. It appears that there are a number of solutions dependant upon server or web host.
Any chance we could log those solutions in a single thread? The installation errors thread is a complete bloody mess and more trouble than it's worth as a resource.
Here's my particular error message:
Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in C:\wamp\www\sdtg\libraries\joomla\database\database\mysql.php on line 221
But just how much of this error message is relevant? Perhaps only 'Maximum execution time of xx seconds exceeded'? Maybe the rest doesn't matter?
I've seen several solutions that involve changing the execution time in a 'php page' or in php.ini or in .htaccess. But that changing it might cause the browser to freeze.
Can somebody help out here please? I'd be happy to re-edit this thread, cutting out the crap leaving just clean concise solutions for various scenarios.
Here's hoping.
