JoomlaBoard Team:
"As many of you know, after almost 5 years of existence joomlaboard development has slowed down recently due to various business and personal issues of the people involved. In spite of that we have done our best to keep the project running. At times it was very difficult; making it less fun that it was supposed to be. One of the attempts to improve it for everyone was a recent invitation for more developers to join in, as we desperately needed them.
The response was not exactly overwhelming, but yesterday we were pleasantly surprised that a group of people has been improving JoomlaBoard in the background, releasing the result of their work as Fireboard. The improvements are everything we wished for and more, the community response is great, and the whole project is very well organized.
As we don't believe it makes sense to duplicate efforts, together we decided to merge the JoomlaBoard project with what will become its successor - Fireboard, and create the best integrated forum solution for Joomla.
Users should have no fears as all the JoomlaBoard options and features you are familiar with are there, plus much more. Migration from JoomlaBoard to FireBoard is quick and easy. So without further ado, we invite you all to join us in the FireBoard community - we will be waiting you there to help you out as we did in the past!

Best of Joomla team is proud to announce the release of Fireboard 1.0.0. It is a powerful and stylish forum component for a well deserved content management system, Joomla!. It is initially based on the hard work of Joomlaboard team and most of our praises goes to their team.
Some of the main features of Fireboard can be listed as below (in addition to JB's current features):
- A much more designer friendly forum system. It is close to SMF templating system having a simpler structue. With very few steps you can modify the total look of the forum. Thanks goes to the great designers in our team.
- Unlimited subcategory system with better administration backend.
- Faster system and better coding experience for 3rd parties.

- Profilebox at the top of the forum
- Support for popular PM systems, such as ClexusPM and Uddeim
- Basic plugin system (practical rather than perfec)
- Language-defined icon system.
- Sharing image system of other templates. So, choice between templates and image series is possible

Please keep in mind that this release is not meant to be used on production sites, even though we have tested it through. We are planning to continue to work on this project, as it is used on our several projects, and we would be pleased if you could join us to bring a bridge-free solution to Joomla! forums.
